Isle Royale and Disapointing Waterfalls

To Start, on the way up it was extremley foggy. Above is the Makinac Bridge so foggy that as we drove up to the bridge you still could not see a thing. When we were aproxamitly 100 or so feet away we couldnt even see the towers.

When we got to the U.P it was still just as foggy. As we were driving along senic highway 02 we stoped at a look out / beach and well ... fog.
Once we got into Marquette we searched for waterfalls. We picked out 3 falls to stop at, the morgan (unnamed falls), the tresle falls, and the carp river falls. To say the least i was disapointed... the trestle falls were very disapointing. We folowed the directions exactly and come to find out that they had built a sub-division were the falls are (or were), we didnt get to see them because if the directions were right it was on private property and we didnt want to trespase. The picture above is the carp river rapids, couldnt find the falls. Getting to the rapids wasnt exactly easy, it involved a near verticle hike down and of course a near verticle hike up. By time we were back from the rapids i was tired and disapointed.

These are various pictures from Isle Royale. It was truely beautifle.  However we had to cut our stay short, we got a radio forecast...rain, rain, rain, and more rain. We did see plenty of squirrels. A snowshoe hare, and alot of flowers.

Above is a WOLF print. We heard the wolves all through the night.
On the left is a red breasted merganser and on the right is a common merganser. Isle Royale is truely one of michigans most beautifle places.

Pressed Flowers and The Butterfly/Hummingbird Garden

Above is a picture of the butterfly/hummingbird garden i planted for my mom. It looks so beautifle now, the flowers have bloomed and it is fuller. The photo was takn right after i planted it all by myself (my dad and brother were doing their own garden). There is about 7 diffrent kinds of flowers, Lupine, Cosmos, Phlox, Salvias, Dianthus, Asters, Portalaca (spelling?).

Pressed flowers are one of the easiest things to make. All you need are flowers, heavy books, and a few pieces of paper.
  1. Get the flowers you want to press (like the iris above)

2. Place paper in book (so flower juice dosent ruin your pages) and lay the flowers flat on the paper.
3. Place heavier books ontop of the book the flowers are in....
and now you have pressed flowers, you can lamanate them if you want (i lamanate mine) or just keep them how they are. Pressing flowers is a good way to preserve your flowers. This also works on leaves.
